IEEE BUC Student Branch Website

The branch was in its founding year, with nothing online. No website, no page, no address to give a student. A student society existing only in the room where members meet is hard to join and easy to miss.

A new branch also has to prove the branch is real. A student deciding whether to sign up, a department deciding whether to back the thing, a visiting speaker checking who invited them: all of them want somewhere official to look first. The Instagram account came later, once the committee set one up. The website came first.

The branch counselor asked me to join IEEE and to take the Webmaster role. She knew my record, and knew I would build a site and then keep the site running, which is the harder half of the two.

I designed and built the whole thing alone. Every one of the 59 commits is mine.

The site carries what a branch has to say for itself and nothing else: the vision and mission, the events run so far, why a student would join, and how to do so. Built with Next.js and TypeScript, with a sitemap, a robots file and structured data, because a branch nobody has heard of has to be findable before anyone judges the work.

I have been Webmaster since August 2025 and still maintain the site. Handing a project over at launch is easy. Keeping one current through a year of events, committee changes and new members decides whether a branch site stays worth visiting.

The Information Technology Department awarded me a certificate for my contribution to the branch's official launch.
